How often should MVHR filters be replaced?

Most MVHR units require filter replacement every 6–12 months, depending on the unit model and local air quality. We recommend checking filters at 6 months and replacing at least annually. We supply replacement filters for all units we service.

How do I know if my MVHR system is running correctly?

Accepted Answer

Signs of a correctly operating MVHR system include: quiet, even airflow from supply terminals, consistent extract from bathrooms and kitchen, no unusual odours and no condensation on cold surfaces. If something feels wrong, book a diagnostic visit.

Can I clean MVHR filters myself?

Accepted Answer

Some MVHR units have coarse pre-filters that can be vacuumed. Fine filters (G4, F7, etc.) should be replaced, not cleaned. Cleaning fine filters reduces their effectiveness and can damage the filter media. We supply replacement filters for all major brands.

How long does a blower door test take?

A standard blower door test takes 2–4 hours including setup, testing and preliminary results. We typically book a half-day for residential tests. A full written report is provided within a few days of the test.

My MVHR unit is making a noise — what should I do?

Accepted Answer

Unusual noises from an MVHR unit can indicate a dirty filter, worn fan bearings, a loose duct connection or an object in a duct. Contact us to arrange a diagnostic visit before the issue causes further damage.

Do you service MVHR units you didn't install?

Yes. We can service, commission and maintain MVHR units of most brands, regardless of who installed them. Contact us with your unit model and we can advise on servicing options.
