Work we're proud of.
A selection of MVHR, airtightness and heat pump projects across South Australia.

Blower Door Test — Nairne, Adelaide Hills
A pre-renovation airtightness test on an existing home at Nairne in the Adelaide Hills, ahead of a planned extension. We set up a Retrotec blower door to measure how leaky the existing building fabric is — establishing a baseline before the works so air-sealing can be targeted where it matters most.
Baseline result: 12.5 ACH @ 50 Pa — equivalent to a 1,149 cm² (0.115 m²) hole in the building fabric, about a 38 cm round opening. A clear, measurable target to seal against during the extension.

Decentralised MVHR Retrofit — Mount Gambier
A decentralised heat recovery retrofit in an existing limestone home at Mount Gambier. The solid limestone walls were lined with a false wall and a building membrane to manage moisture, and a Zehnder ComfoSpot 50 single-room heat recovery unit was core-drilled through the wall — delivering continuous filtered fresh air with heat recovery and no central ductwork.
Zehnder ComfoSpot 50 decentralised MVHR installed and commissioned in a limestone home, with a false wall and building membrane to prevent moisture issues.

High Performance Home — Wynn Vale
Working with Enduro Builders, we installed a Zehnder ComfoAir Q350 MVHR system with ComfoTube ducting run within a Pro Clima Intello airtight dropped ceiling — keeping all ductwork inside the thermal envelope. We also supplied and installed a Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump hot water system.
Zehnder Q350 MVHR commissioned and balanced. Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump supplied and installed.

High Performance Home — Middleton
A high-performance home on the Fleurieu Peninsula built by 35 Degrees South in 2025. HiPer Haus designed and installed the Sabik MVHR system to deliver controlled fresh air ventilation throughout the home.
Sabik MVHR unit designed, supplied and commissioned. Built by 35 Degrees South, 2025.

Passivhaus — Thebarton
A Certified Passivhaus built by Enduro Builders in 2025. HiPer Haus supplied and commissioned the Zehnder ComfoAir Q350 MVHR system and Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump hot water system with 315L tank.
Zehnder ComfoAir Q350 MVHR and Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump with 315L tank supplied and commissioned.

Passivhaus Plus Display Home — Mount Barker
Designed and built by Enduro Builders to demonstrate that a Certified Passivhaus can be achieved in Australia using locally available materials — without importing windows. Opened to the public as a display home. HiPer Haus supplied and commissioned the MVHR and CO₂ heat pump systems.
Certified Passivhaus Plus. Zehnder ComfoAir Q350 and Reclaim Energy 315L CO₂ heat pump supplied and commissioned.

Passivhaus — Torrens Park
A Certified Passivhaus built by Enduro Builders in 2024. HiPer Haus designed, supplied and commissioned the Sabik 210 MVHR system, and supplied a Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump hot water system (installed by the builder's plumber). We also provided airflow data and commissioning information for the final PHPP certification.
Sabik 210 MVHR designed, supplied and commissioned. Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump hot water system supplied. Commissioning data provided for Certified Passivhaus PHPP.

Passivhaus — Yankallia
A Certified Passivhaus built by Enduro Builders in 2024. HiPer Haus designed, supplied and commissioned the Zehnder ComfoAir Q350 MVHR system, with ComfoTube ducting run within the ceiling, and supplied a Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump hot water system (installed by the builder's plumber). We also provided airflow data and commissioning information for the final PHPP certification.

Blower Door Test — Thebarton Renovation & Extension
A pre-renovation airtightness test on an existing home at Thebarton, ahead of a planned renovation and extension. The existing building fabric proved leaky enough that we had to run our Retrotec Model 5000 fan in its open configuration with range plate A to get an accurate reading. We tested two configurations — including the existing lean-to, and with the lean-to excluded — to set a baseline ahead of the works. As part of the renovation, HiPer Haus will also be designing, supplying and commissioning an MVHR system, supplying a Reclaim Energy CO₂ heat pump hot water system, and fitting range hood makeup air.
Baseline result: 19.78 m³/(h·m²) @ 50 Pa including the lean-to; ≈12.2 m³/(h·m²) @ 50 Pa with the lean-to excluded — a clear baseline to compare against once the renovation and new MVHR system are complete.

Blower Door Test — Willunga Shouse Conversion
The owners of this project purchased an existing shed/house (“shouse”) that was unfinished, with the vision of transforming it into a comfortable, energy-efficient home. Rather than starting from scratch, the project focused on upgrading the existing structure, improving the building envelope, and integrating modern building performance principles to create a home that is healthy, comfortable and efficient to run.
Result: 3.556 ACH @ 50 Pa — equivalent to a 486.7 cm² (0.049 m²) hole in the building envelope, about a 25 cm round opening. Main leakage traced to the sliding doors and the bathroom/laundry exhaust fans, despite dampers already fitted.
